ThingsCon and EHVIOT announce further dates for the series of workshops

Don’t Be Evil: Building Trustable and Responsible Technology Business

August 27 a number of experts and practitioners joined the online collaborative workshop (designed in Miro) to kick-off a series of discussions around the frameworks and requirements for more acceptable technology, data, identity and privacy practices.

This series will continue with 3 more open invitation workshops enabling a deeper dive into each step of the flow from the “Code of Trust” and “Trust by Design” to the “Trust Toolkit”. The output will be further presented and discussed during a seminar and workshop planned during the ThingsCon 2020 conference in December – where we will further evaluate the different roles and technical possibilities available to start rebuilding trust in technology business.

A huge thank you goes out to the participants of this first workshop – despite limited time to interact and discuss around a broad selection of information and examples, the discussions were rich and insightful, touching upon a range of valuable theoretical and ethical as well as pragmatic contemporary perspectives. The diversity and level of expertise was impressive and much appreciated!

CODE OF TRUST Defining the grey boundaries of Trust.

We started the workshop by asking ourselves “What is ‘Evil’ ?” Digging deeper into possible criteria and boundaries required to (re)build trust in technology.

We will continue to dig deeper into the frameworks and principles during the following meetup, open to existing as well as new participants who may wish to contribute to the discussion.

  • Date: Thursday 1st October
  • Time: 18.00 – 19.30
  • Location: Miro Online Collaborative Workshop
  • RSVP via Meetup page

TRUST BY DESIGN Trustworthytechnology and business practices

We then shifted our ‘trust’ discussion into the ‘real’ world by evaluating a selection of products, service and organizations and questioning specific development, design or business models in practice.

We will continue to dig deeper into these and new real-world examples, and failures, during the following meetup, open to existing as well as new participants who wish to contribute to the discussion.

  • Date: Thursday 22nd October
  • Time: 18.00 – 19.30
  • Location: Miro Online Collaborative Workshop
  • RSVP via Meetup page

TRUST TOOLKIT Throughout the Product lifecycle

We closed the workshop by using the previous discussions as a blueprint to consider potential requirements and technical tooling that might support in the validation and application of good practices both in an early stage of design and development as well as auditing throughout the product lifecycle.

We will continue to dig deeper into the most feasible trust toolkit options during the following meetup, open to existing as well as new participants who wish to contribute to the discussion.

  • Date: Thursday 19th November
  • Time: 18.00 – 19.30
  • Location: Miro Online Collaborative Workshop
